Next Detroit: Clean Downtown Team
Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick and Roger Penske, Chairman of the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP), have teamed up to create the NEXT Detroit: Clean Downtown program to benefit downtown Detroit. This DDP cleanup initiative is a key part of the Mayor’s NEXT Detroit agenda to build a framework for downtown’s future.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has joined the team by providing a crew of nearly forty workers – Detroiters participating in Goodwill’s job training program.
Local and national companies have also teamed up to support the effort. Penske Corporation, Home Depot, DTE Energy, W.W. Grainger, Inc., ExxonMobil, Arrow Uniform, Cingular, Ford Field, Detroit Lions, Preferred Building Services, Impatto, Priority One Landscaping LLC, Ford Motor Company, Daimler Chrysler, Compuware, Arvin Meritor, Hudson Webber Foundation, Lanier and Sterling Computer Consultants have provided donations and discounts on equipment, supplies and services.
Civic partners like the City of Detroit, the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, and Detroit Renaissance have also provided assistance and resources to DDP to move this project forward.
