Clean Downtown

The Clean Team

Under the leadership of Roger Penske, the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP), has developed the Clean Downtown program to enhance downtown Detroit. This initiative is a dynamic collaboration of businesses, foundations and nonprofits to strengthen downtown Detroit’s competitive advantage.

Local and national companies and foundations have teamed up to support Clean Downtown with over $5.6 million in contributions and $2 million in donated goods and services since 2006.  See Sponsors and Partners.

Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit, recruits, trains, supervises and provides mentoring for sixty Clean Downtown workers, who face multiple barriers to successful employment.  This training and employment experience has enabled many to reunite with families, pursue education, move to independent housing, and achieve self-sufficiency.

Numerous civic partners also provide assistance and resources to advance the project, including the City of Detroit, the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, the University Cultural Center Association, Wayne County, and the State of Michigan.
